Medical Terminology Quiz
This medical terminology quiz asks 20 questions about the combining forms and suffixes that longer medical words are built from. Answers are marked the moment you pick them, right on this page.
What the 20 questions cover
Most long medical words are assembled from short, reusable parts. The question set here is built on sixteen combining forms and eight suffixes — the pieces that carry the meaning inside the big words. Each of the 20 questions turns on one of those parts: what a given form refers to, or what a suffix does to the word it closes.
The framing is strictly vocabulary. Terminology on this site is treated as language — parts and meanings — never as anything clinical.
Where the answers come from
Cross Section keeps a fixed catalog of 200 keys spanning its whole question bank, including a structured table of terminology roots and suffixes. Two authors filled in that catalog separately, without seeing each other’s work, and the finished copies were compared entry by entry. All 200 values matched. Anywhere the two copies could not both vouch for a value, no question would be asked — so every item in this quiz survived that comparison.
